Yesterday and today.....

Well, yesterday afternoon, Annabella took a good long nap, and so did we! After nap time it was time to get ready for dinner. We headed downstairs surprised to find that only our family and the Brumelle's had decided to go. We headed to the dock and after about a 30 minute wait, we boarded our ship. The cruise began quickly, and dinner was served very quickly. we had plenty to eat and ended it with two bowls of Taro ice cream.

The sun was just about down by the end of the meal, and so we went out onto the deck to enjoy the beautiful lights from the shore. Our rep talked about some of the places we cruised past, and we were all  delighted with the breath taking Canton tower. During the cruise, they had a lady who came out and did a juggling/ balancing act. Towards the end of the cruise, my stomach began to feel a bit green, and by the time we got back to the hotel, I was running for the room. I wound up with the first case of food poisoning, and it was from some braised cabbage/lettuce stuff on the boat. Thankfully we came prepared, and after a couple of hours, I was feeling much better.

Today we had a complete free day. Our plans were to head over to Shamain Island to do some shopping, but cabs are impossible to get in the rain, and we have a typhoon over us, so we have lots of rain here. Instead, our guide rode with us over to the Pearl Market, and we got Annabella a set of pearl earrings and a pearl necklace that we were able to hand pick and watch them string. That will be her 16th birthday gift from us. We are getting ready to head over to the 7-11 for some more juice, and then hopefully can meet up with some friends to go to dinner and do a bit more shopping in the Dong Feng markets next door.

Here is a video of the 3rd tallest tower in the world...it was the second, until Japan finished their just a few months ago. The video can't even begin to compare to how mesmerizing it was to watch in person. All of the shore was lit up and all of the buildings. Many of them sparkled or changed colors, and the bridges were just as beautiful. I am truly thankful, that even though I got sick after the food, that we were able to go and experience the beauty of Guangzhou from the river at night. So without further adieu...here are some photos from today and yesterday!
